Cress on Oak Creek

Cress on Oak Creek

When it comes to iconic Arizona dining experiences, it would be tough to top enjoying a fine meal at Cress on Oak Creek. The main restaurant of Uptown Sedona’s L’Auberge de Sedona, Cress offers an only-in-Sedona setting. Enjoying fine fare while Oak Creek babbles beside you and trees offer natural cover is an experience worth savoring. We’ve had many memorable meals at this iconic venue.

Menus here rotate regularly, which adds to the charm since you’re bound to try something you’ve never had before. During our most recent visit, we just had to start with the house-made bread. It’s outstanding. We always recommend ordering the milk rolls, which are so soft, buttery and easy to pull apart. These are served with pesto butter and brown butter. It’s a great reminder that even at the fanciest restaurants, the simplest dishes can be the best. We also ordered the Seared Scallop. The white fish was tender and accompanied by hearty bacon corn puree, baby corn and dressed with a leek vinaigrette. For our first main dish, we opted for the Squid Ink Scarpanocc Pasta. We quickly devoured these texture-rich, sweet yet savory cauliflower-mascarpone cheese stuffed pasta served with morels, asparagus and Romanesco cauliflower. As much as we savored the vegetarian dish, we just had to order off the steak menu here. All of the gourmet beef here is from Prescott’s esteemed K4 Copper State Reserve. The eight-ounce Filet Mignon was one of the most tender cuts of meat we’ve ever sunk our forks into. Guests can order enhancements for their cuts. We opted for the decadent Truffle Butter. If you want to go all out, you can ask for the Oscar – jumbo lump blue crab served with asparagus and bearnaise sauce.

No write up for Cress would be complete without mentioning the beverage program here. The craft cocktails are inventive, and the wine list is one of the best in town. To celebrate this outstanding meal, we opted for a glass of Taittinger, a bubbly Brut Champagne from France. Dinner at Cress is a special occasion that warranted ordering this libation. Cheers. − A Sedona Foodie
