BiGA

BiGA

We’re frequently stopped at BiGA to fill up when we’re in Prescott. Pronounced “bee-guh,” this is a contemporary, farm-to-table restaurant. The setting is cozy and charming. Expect low ceilings, brick walls and a white-tiled bar in a light-filled space. Now that the weather’s finally warm enough, we love enjoying our meals on the enclosed outdoor patio. And there’s plenty to savor here. The food all tastes undeniably fresh and is made with Southwestern ingredients. To start off with, we had to go with the Steamed Mussels. The healthy heaping of mussels were served in a light orange broth of local tomato fennel along with garlic bread to soak up this tasty, well-seasoned liquid.

When we’re here for lunch, we never pass up the Kimchi Grilled Cheese. Served with Harvati cheese and sweet chili mayo, this is such a spicy, fresh take on a classic lunch order. All sandwiches are served with delectable house-made bread and a choice of a side. We’d always recommend the green chile mac and cheese – the chiles give it just the right dash of spice. BiGA is also known for its veggie-centric dishes. We’ve fallen for the Sun Valley Harvest Mushroom Risotto, the decadent pasta is topped with Parmesan cheese, charred asparagus and pickled beets that are cooked in a sherry reduction. Likewise, the Vegan Scalloped Potatoes managed to taste rich and creamy despite not being made with any milk. This savory dish is made with cashew cream, nutritional yeast, mushrooms, roasted vegetables, scallions and complemented by watercress chimichurri. The cocktail menu is also of note. It changes seasonally, and the last time we stopped in we had a refreshing Spiked Lemonade Cocktail.

To finish, we couldn’t resist the Chocolate Pots de Crème. This made-from-scratch dessert was rich and silky. The decadent final dish was topped with house-made toffy sauce and fresh Chantilly cream. We savored every bite of this dessert and left feeling comforted in knowing that BiGA’s stellar cuisine will be waiting there for us on our next Prescott visit. − A Prescott Foodie
