Tucked away on the top floor of the Arabella Hotel Sedona, Molé Sedona beckons with top-notch Mexican food, sweeping Sedona vistas from the outdoor patio and fantastic margaritas. We quickly fell for the modern, neutral décor and especially loved the chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. To kick off our meal, we started with a Piña margarita – made with Corazon blanco, fresh pineapple juice, fresh lime juice and agave with a sugar rim that gives each sip a sweet finish. We found this drink to be refreshing, easy to drink and not too sweet.
From the appetizer menu, we just had to order the Iron Skillet Cornbread. This decidedly Southwestern plate is made with hatch green chilis and fresh corn that’s served with citrus honey butter. The bread was moist, thick and had a nice savory finish with the addition of the chilis and corn. We slathered each piece with the sweet butter that completed the entire experience. For our entrée, we opted for enchiladas. We couldn’t get enough of the Molé Con Pollo. The house smoked organic chicken had a nice flavor without being too overpowering, and the entrée was topped with Oaxaca cheese and a chocolate molé. The molé here is a must-try. Our enchiladas were topped with a molé that was savory, sweet and one of the best variations we’ve ever tried.
Brunch here is noteworthy too. Molé Sedona offers creative Mexican and American spins on many traditional brunch options. The Chipotle Crab Eggs Benedict was served on sourdough toast topped with a spicy chipotle hollandaise that gave the dish a hint of spice. For a sweeter option, try the Abuelita Chocolate Pancakes. To finish our meal, we went with the Churros. We devoured every bite that was filled with goat’s milk caramelo that made for a surprising twist on this classic dessert. The hot churros were served with cool whipped cream and vanilla bean ice cream that made for a delightful hot and cold combination that our taste buds loved. Molé Sedona has been open for about a year, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have this outstanding restaurant in Sedona. − A Sedona Foodie
