Youth who experience homelessness face significantly higher recidivism rates, both in re-arrest and reconfinement, compared to peers with stable housing (Taylor & Francis Online; Prison Policy Initiative; AISP – University of Pennsylvania). 26% of youth exiting detention became homeless within 12 months, and those without stable housing were far more likely to reoffend (Homeless Hub; AISP). These findings underscore the importance of stable housing as a critical youth intervention.
