Home Away From Home

For all of you domestic mavens, May is your month. First up is the 2018 Prescott Historic Home Tour, which takes place May 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year’s tour focuses on the North Prescott Townsite Historic District with more than a dozen historic buildings including homes, the Smoki Museum, First Congregational Church, Washington School, Prescott Armory and Citizens Cemetery. Cars from the Prescott Antique Auto Club will be staged along the route. Tickets are $15 in advance or $17 the day of the event. The tour is organized by the nonprofit Prescott Historic Home Tour LLC. All proceeds are donated to local charities. For more information, visit www.smokimuseum.org/2018-historic-home-tour. The Jerome Chamber of Commerce will present its 53rd Annual Jerome Historic Home and Building Tour on May 19-20. The tours begin at 9 a.m. at Spook Hall with the last one starting at 3 p.m. It takes two to four hours to see all of the buildings (wear comfortable walking shoes), which include Jerome legend Katie Lee’s home. Katie was a conservationist and activist who dedicated her life to restoring the Colorado River. Other stops include what was once Arizona’s longest-running bed and breakfast and a home filled with antiques and artifacts from Jerome. Tickets for the tour are $25 for adults and $10 for kids.
