A New Year & Starting From Home

What a terrific month. We’re beginning the new year and all travels emanate from home, so that is what we’ll look at first. Check out the aerial shot of Sedona and then a couple of birds that live in the neighborhood. Beginning in March, we’ll branch out and look at scenes away from home. It’s tough to find places better than Sedona, though. Even our wildlife is special.

Photo 1: (Featured at the top of this page) The aerial view of Sedona primarily features the Village of Oak Creek, where I live on the eleventh tee box of the Oak Creek Country Club. That is the upper golf course nearest the red rocks, and we have the most beautiful dark green fairways thanks to our groundskeeper, Robert. I’ve lived on the eleventh tee box for 33 years now. It used to be the second tee box, but they flipped the nines a number of years ago. The golf course below ours is Sedona Golf Resort. I’ll never tire of the views, the wildlife and great neighbors and friends.

Photo 2: I took this shot of a male Cardinal perched on a street sign whilst on a morning walk. This entire area is populated by many species of birds and wild animals, and these are among my favorites. Gorgeous bird with a red rock background.

Photo 3: This Stellar Jay is new to my yard this year. Usually, they are found in higher elevations, but this year, they have moved into my backyard and the neighbors’ too. I feed them peanuts and other goodies, so they are staying with me.

2026 is off to a good start. We’re breathing, smiling and doing what we can. I’m looking forward to the upcoming adventures and travels in the new year! Stay with me and with Sedona Monthly.
