Only Man …

Only man has developed the ability to build structures and alter the face of the Earth to accommodate his needs and provide the technology and infrastructure that has permitted the widespread growth of our species. We have developed fields of knowledge that permit us to care for individual health needs, food growing and transportation over tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of years. As a result of that, we have changed the face of the Earth to better accommodate ourselves.

Birds, animals and other life forms have not developed in the manner that we have. Animals, except for the rare species, all have at best temporary homes, nests, dens and the like which are used for purposes of breeding. Once the kids are gone, the nests and dens are mostly abandoned, and more temporary shelter is once again the norm for daily living. Good? Bad? Whatever, it is the result of the advancement of our species, and we have it. We do the best we can to nurture the planet for all other life forms, each of which has its purpose to fulfill. Photo 1 (featured at the top of this page) is of a portion of the Village of Oak Creek looking to the north through Sedona showing you how it looked before modern humans arrived on the scene. Photo 2 is the same photo, but with humans added to the scene and how it looks now with the addition of our roads, housing and places of work.

Photo 3 shows a Burro foal nuzzling up to mom as she forages for food. Burros are social animals and find places to bed down at night, but nothing permanent.

Photo 4 is a Bobcat who has just caught a Vole for dinner and is heading back into the brush to finish his meal. Later, he likely returned to one of the multiple dens he has in his territory.
