Bird and nature enthusiasts might want to consider heading to Dead Horse Ranch State Park in Cottonwood later this month. That’s when the Verde Valley Birding and Nature Festival returns from April 24 to 27. In addition to the gorgeous scenery and bird watching opportunities galore, festival-goers can enjoy workshops, expert-led field trips and events. This year’s theme is Birds in Art. New this year, the festival will also include educational events that aren’t just about birds. On April 26, Megan Isadore from the River Otter Ecology Project will give a presentation and a few walks around the lagoons at the state park. Family Nature Day is on April 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. On this day, attendees receive free admission to the park and can also enjoy family-friendly activities. Registration fees start at $35.
