A new year is officially underway, and we are blessed to be here. For most creatures on our planet, it is just another day in a continuum of days that begins and ends on dates unknown to them. But for us humans, we have broken our lives down into units of time based on the length of time it takes our planet to circumvent the star we orbit and to rotate one time on its axis. Time thus measured, allows us to have a historical marker that allows us to determine when an event happened, is happening and will happen. It is still a continuum, but now with markers.
This also gives us a starting point each year. We use this starting point as a fresh start to make resolutions to do better. We make plans to do things, see places and celebrate certain recurring events. It helps to remember events like your partner’s birthdate, your anniversary and such.
There are many things I have planned for 2023. I want to see change and progress. For example, I would like to take better shots of the plethora of creatures, places and people that I photograph. There is always a better shot to be had. Otherwise, why go out there if you already have the best possible shot? There are places and people I want to see and new friends to make. There are gemstones and works of jewelry to create. The concept of what they will look like has not yet formed in my mind, but I know that they will, but just not yet.
Life is like that. We remember the past and look forward to the future, but are kept busy with all the busyness and joy of the day we are in.
Here are five of the photographic pieces of art that I have captured and created in 2022. In 2023, I will try to capture and create better images. Happy new year!
