We were thrilled when Shorebird Restaurant opened back in March of 2021. A high-end seafood centric restaurant in the heart of Sedona is our idea of heaven, and Shorebird exceeded our expectations. We immediately were charmed by the setting. The expansive window showcases glorious red rock views during the day, and the patio is an ideal place to eat al fresco when the weather’s nice. At night, the lighting under the white bar offers a chic glow. The menu is long and stellar. We can’t think of a better way to kick off a meal at Shorebird than by ordering from the raw bar. We love oysters and immediately devoured the half-shell bivalves. The two piece Ahi Tuna nigiri tasted straight from the sea fresh and paired well with the ginger dressing. The Spicy Tuna Eggroll was a stand-out appetizer. Housed in a crunchy fried shell, the spicy tuna was complemented by five-spiced pineapple, avocado and cucumbers. We paired our apps with a West Coast Salty Dog cocktail. This mix of vodka and grapefruit juice with a tangy cilantro lime salt rim was a refreshing way to kick off our meal. When it comes to main courses, we couldn’t resist the lure of the signature Japanese Black Cod. The flaky white fish was made with a miso marinade that gave it a bold, delectable flavor.
We’d be remiss not to mention the daily brunch. Yes, daily. From sushi to sandwiches, you’re bound to find something you like. We’re partial to the brunch specialties. These include the outstanding Maryland Crab Eggs Benedict. We enjoyed every bite of the tasty crab cakes, eggs, tomatoes and asparagus that was draped in hollandaise and served alongside crispy potatoes topped with a dollop of tangy lemon aioli.
For dessert, we opted for the classic Valrhona Chocolate Brownie. The generously sized and decadent brownie was served warm and served with cold vanilla bean ice cream, savory salted caramel and crunchy toasted walnuts. The mouthwatering dessert was the perfect way to end a meal at an unforgettable restaurant. − A Sedona Foodie
