The Verde Valley Sinfonietta is returning with its first performance of the 2020-2021 season. On Feb. 7 at 2:30 p.m., hear soloist, Ray Ushikubo, and guest conductor, Laura Jackson (pictured), perform at the Sedona Performing Arts Center. Ray is an awardwinning Curtis Institute of Music student who will play both the piano and violin – first in the “Mendelssohn Piano Concerto No. 1” and then as a violin soloist in the Charles-Camille Saint-Saens’ “Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso.” Other works on the program include Felix Mendelssohn’s “Hebrides Overture” and Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 4.” Laura is the former assistant conductor of the Atlanta Symphony and current music director of the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra in Nevada.
