Enjoy a celebration of Mexico’s rich culture and heritage at Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village’s annual Cinco de Mayo celebration on May 1 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. Cinco de Mayo commemorates Mexico’s victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican war that led to Mexico’s independence. Look forward to live music and dancers scattered throughout Tlaquepaque. Feast on Mexican dishes and treats from a variety of vendors. Children can partake in free face painting. The performance schedule is as follows: Ritmo Latino will perform at Las Campanas from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Flamenco Gaetano at Del Norte from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Mariachis will be roaming from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Ballet Folklorico will perform at Tlaquepaque North at 1 and 3 p.m. There is no chili cook off this year due to COVID. Free trolleys will be running for off-site parking. Social distancing and a mask mandate will be enforced. Visit tlaq.com for more information.
