Located just off of Sedona’s main road, AZ-89A, local haunt The Golden Goose American Grill is worth seeking out for its stellar cuisine and welcoming atmosphere. The entire space exudes a cozy bistro-vibe. Think tea lights on every table. Colorful glass plates of all shapes and sizes on one wall in the dining room. We also love the intimate bar and dog-friendly patio of this spot.
To start, your server will bring out fresh, warm bread wrapped in a white napkin – a classy touch. For appetizers, we just had to start with the Southwest classic, Yucca Fries. If you haven’t ordered these in a while, these cactus fries taste like thick, steak cut potato fries with just a hint of sweetness that’s tempered by the tangy chipotle dipping sauce. The Golden Goose is well-known for its steaks and seafood. But we opted for a hearty pasta dish for our entrée. The Santa Cruz pasta features chicken, shrimp and chorizo in garlic chipotle cream sauce served over a heaping bed of linguini. This protein-packed, flavorful dish was a perfect way to cap off a long day.
Ambience here is another winning factor. Dogs are welcome on the lively patio outside. Listen to the cars on AZ-89A drive by as you enjoy your food and company. Service was attentive and personable. Our waitress asked us about why we were in town and offered some top recommendations.
To finish, our server brought out an impressive dessert tray showcasing all of the Golden Goose’s handmade sweets that rotate on the menu regularly. We opted for a slice of decadent, layered chocolate mocha cake that we simply could not get enough of. Consider pairing your final course with one of four coffee cocktails – specialties here – like the Mexican Coffee, coffee, Kahlua, tequila and whipped cream. We’d return to eventually try them all. − A Sedona Foodie
