A favorite among Sedona audiences, renowned pianist-composer Michael Brown returns to Chamber Music Sedona on Thursday April 11 at 5:30 p.m. to perform Spring Salon Musicale – Bernstein at 100! It’s the last concert of the season. “There are events occurring all around the world celebrating Leonard Bernstein’s 100th anniversary and we couldn’t pass [on] the opportunity to do one ourselves,” says Nick Canellakis, Chamber Music Sedona’s artistic director.
A salon recital celebrating the centenary of Leonard Bernstein includes selections from “West Side Story” and other dazzling works by composers who inspired the American icon. The concert will be held in an intimate setting in one of Sedona’s beautiful homes. Light hors-d’oeuvres and local wine will be served. “Salons are a great way to experience music with a small group of people,” Nick says.
Michael will be performing a few works by Leonard Bernstein, music from other composers who were inspired by Bernstein and his own compositions inspired by Bernstein. Described as “one of the leading figures in the current renaissance of performer-composers” in The New York Times, Michael Brown is a winner of the 2018 Emerging Artist Award from Lincoln Center and a 2015 Avery Fisher Career Grant. Tickets for this performance are $125. For information, call 928-204-2415 or visit chambermusicsedona.org.
