Despite recent whispers of Sedona losing its small-town charm, there are still plenty of opportunities to connect with neighbors and celebrate what we love best about Red Rock Country. The Collective Sedona’s Moonlight Madness Concert is one of those opportunities. On Sept. 23, grab your chairs and blankets, and set up camp in The Collective’s Kiva Courtyard starting at 5 p.m. At 6 p.m., local favorites 3MKi (Miller, Miller, Martin and Ki) take the stage, performing a combination of classic rock, pop and originals. Pack a picnic (you are not allowed to bring alcohol to the premises) or purchase pizza, wine and beer from the newly opened Rotten Johnny’s Wood-Fired Pizza Pie, also located at The Collective.
Moonlight Madness is a fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Sedona Village’s youth programs. Chairs will be set up, but concertgoers are invited to bring their own chairs and blankets, too. The concert ends at 9 p.m. It all takes place under a full moon, says Susannah Martin, vocalist and percussionist for 3MKi. “I think the community aspect of this is very important,” says Susannah. “It’s going to be a superfun evening. That courtyard at The Collective is beautiful, and the music will be magical in the moonlight.”
Aside from Susannah, 3MKi includes Robin Miller on guitar, mandolin and vocals; Eric Miller on guitar and vocals; and Patrick Ki on guitar, ukulele and vocals. Robin has a background in blues while Eric’s influences include Latin and rock, and Patrick has a Hawaiian vibe. Add that to Susannah’s pop, Latin and jazz background, and the band is one of the most interesting acts in Sedona. Covers range from the Eagles and The Beatles to Fleetwood Mac and Sting, all performed with 3MKi’s unique style. The band has been performing since 2010. “There’s always a lot of energy from the crowd,” says Susannah. “It doesn’t take long before everyone is dancing and singing along.”
