Halloween is here! There is no shortage of haunted happenings in the Verde Valley for the young and the young at heart, starting with Jerome’s 2018 Ghost Walk on Oct. 12 and 13 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. (shows every 30 minutes). This year’s theme is Dreams, Delusions and Dastardly Deeds. The walks begin at Spook Hall where a ghostly guide will lead participants to various locations around town. At each stop, costumed actors will tell stories from Jerome’s colorful past. Tickets are $15 for the Friday walks and $20 for the Saturday walks.
At the Sedona Community Pool, the Pumpkin Splash happens Oct. 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. Don your bathing suit and grab a floating pumpkin to carve for Halloween. At what is arguably Arizona’s most unique pumpkin patch, families can play games like the slingshot challenge, pumpkin bowling and bobbing for apples. The cost is $5 per person, and tickets go on sale Oct. 8 through the City of Sedona’s Parks and Recreation Department. (A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.)
On Oct. 31, take to the street in Uptown for the Safe & Fun Trick or Treat, sponsored by the City of Sedona Parks and Recreation Department as well as Uptown business owners. The 32nd annual event starts at 5 p.m. when merchants begin handing out candy to costumed trick or treaters. A “Thriller Zombique” show will take place at the intersection of Jordan Road and AZ-89A several times between 5 and 8 p.m. All events are free. The merchants in Old Town Cottonwood will host a similar night of trick or treating on Oct. 31. And that same night, downtown Flagstaff features its Halloween Harvest with trick or treating, a pumpkin patch, carnival games, a fashion show, music and more.
